i'm so close to the end of the book now, and i admit it was hard to get into at first, i was tempted to skip past jake's rambling at times to find out more of what happens to lois as she grows. but wow, what an ending, i absolutely loved gulp, bud their society. this is the first book i have read by her and i'm excited to learn more, i loved beauty and the beast..both the classic fairy tale and the disney movie, so her first novel will be a great place to start. the longer i read in jake's mindset, the more i came to appreciate the strong characterization she created there.

Very nice assessment, Stephanie. I agree. I sank into it once I got the hang of the narrative, but it's certainly not for everyone. I can't wait to see what Chalice is like.
